Dr. Sudarshan Dutta Receives ISSS Young Scientist Award

Dr. Sudarshan Dutta, Deputy Director, South Asia Program, is being selected for the Indian Society of Soil Science Golden Jubilee Commemoration Young Scientist Award for the year 2016. This is a national level competitive award and the applications were judged by a selection committee, consisting of five members, all were renowned soil scientists across the country. The selection panel selected my candidature for "Outstanding Achievement in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition". The committee also considered that Dr. Dutta has "relentlessly been performing nutrient management research and extension activities on important crops of India and promotes nutrient stewardship towards enhancing productivity, better economics and environmental sustainability". Dr. Dutta received a Gold Plated Medal and a Citation during the inauguration of the 81st Annual Convention of Indian Society of Soil Science at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, form Mr. Radha Mohan Singh, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India and Mr. N. S. Tomar, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. Dr. Jagadish Prasad, Principal Scientist, ICAR and also President of the Society was also present in the dais along with the Deputy Director General, ICAR - Natural Resource Management, Dr. A. K. Singh. It is noteworthy to mention here that ISSS is a very prestigious society of soil scientists of India established in 1935 and has more than 3000 members across the country.
